Spirit Airlines $9 fare club review

Spirits ultra cheap promotional fares Is it worth the annual membership fee of $39.95

If you belong to the $9 club, your fare will always be $9 cheaper one way than a non-member's. Spirit posts sales reasonably frequently. There have been $1 one way fares for members before, but a roundtrip will actually come out to about $40 with the taxes and fees. You must be able to check online fairly frequently for these fares because they go fast. As a side note, these fares are date-specific, not just a general timeframe. You can get a sale fare on your outbound flight, for example, and combine it with a regular fare for your inbound if that date doesn't work. Spirit is great if price is your main concern.

The seats are larger than most airlines and are leather and very comfortable compared to other airlines. The most I have ever paid for a round trip ticket was $153.00 and that is unusual to be that high. I LOVE Spirit! I have had tickets for $19.00 round trip, and there are a ton of places you can choose from besides Florida. You will be happy if you join. It's a great deal and they are very nice and polite
There are two tips I can give to benefit from Spirits ultra cheap promotional fares.

TIP ONE: Look at the fare as essentially a one way ticket. If you can use the outbound, consider simply discarding whatever return you book. Use some other low cost carrier (i.e. Southwest or AirTran) for your return. WIth this in mind, you can get $18.00 tickets (i.e. $9 twice, discarding the return) down to Florida on a regular basis.

TIP TWO: Nest your Spirit tickets. Spirit promotional fares are usually set up so they are FROM Florida/Carribean up to the chilly north, with the returns at $9.00 AFTER the outbound northbound. Nest your tickets. Buy two round trips where one of your outbounds is really your return.

You can also book a refundable ticket and get a 60 day trial of the club for $9. Then call up and cancel the ticket.
